Discover the hidden secrets of the Melbourne to Sydney route. This tour includes a walk at the Wilsons Promontory National Park, Australia’s most southerly point. After a short break at the old port of Sale we enjoy further magnificent views in the area of the Great Gippsland lakes. We may see majestic pelicans in Lakes Entrance, where the 90 Miles Beach meets the Southern Ocean. Spend the night in lakes Entrance. The next day we walk through beautiful warm climate rainforest at the pristine Bemm River Scenic Reserve. Continue to the town of Eden and visit the Killer Whale Museum. Drive through the picturesque Bournda National Park. Spend the night in Batemans Bay.
On the third day we follow the scenic route to Jervis Bay Marine Park. Enjoy a stroll along the beach, featuring the world’s whitest sand. On the way to Sydney the last stop is Kiama where we visit the local rock pool from where we may see dolphins or whales.
This tour operates both ways following the same itinerary. Included are accommodation with full breakfast, lunch and entry to Eden Killer Whale Museum.
3 days 2 nights Melbourne -> Sydney
DAY 1: MELBOURNE / WILSONS PROM NATIONAL PARK / LAKES ENTRANCE
We leave Melbourne travelling South East along the South Gippsland Freeway. Passing through the picturesque towns of Korumburra and Leongatha, we have time for a coffee break in Koonwarra. This is a contemporary rural village actively demonstrating sustainable living from organic food and wine, to clothing, furniture and art. We continue our day to Wilsons Promontory, Australia’s most southerly point and one of Victoria’s most beautiful National parks. It protects over 50,000 hectares which include some of Victorias best beaches, cool shaded rainforest gullies, cloud soaked mountain peaks, rugged offshore islands and remote light station illuminating seas surrounding the southern tip. At Wilsons Promontory National Park we enjoy a beautiful view from Picknick Point Lookout and take a walk to Squeaky beach. Afterwards we drive to Tidal River, where we enjoy a light lunch. After lunch we continue our tour leaving Wilsons Promontory. We have one further stop where we may see wildlife like kangaroos, echidnas or wombats. After a short break at the old port of Sale we enjoy further magnificent views in the area of the Great Gippsland lakes and may see some majestic pelicans in Lakes Entrance, where the 90 Miles beach meets the Southern Ocean. We arrive at our hotel in Lakes Entrance.

DAY 2: LAKES ENTRANCE / EDEN / BATEMANS BAY
After breakfast we leave Lakes Entrance and drive along the Princess Hwy passing through Orbost. We take a half an hour walk through beautiful warm climate rainforest at Bemm River Scenic Reserve, crossing two extension bridges and learn about Australian rainforests flora and fauna. We continue our tour to Eden, where we enjoy a lunch and coffee at the Eden’s wharf. Eden is a town which history is bound with the traditions of the sea and New South Wales whaling industry. We visit the Eden Killer Whale Museum which houses the skeletal remains of legendary “Old Tom”, a killer whale that reputedly guided whalers to their prey. The museum tells of Eden’s whaling, Aboriginal, timber and fishing histories. We continue our tour north enjoying magnificent coastal views while passing through the coastal town of Merimbula and picturesque Bournda National Park. In Bega we join the Princess Highway and continue after the town of Moruya on the scenic drive along the coast. We arrive in Batemans Bay.

DAY 3: BATEMANS BAY / JERVIS BAY / KIAMA / SYDNEY
We leave Batemans Bay passing through the district of Shoalhaven. We follow the scenic route to Jervis Bay Marine Park. Enjoy a stroll along the beach, the world’s whitest sands and crystal clear waters provide a picturesque setting for the diverse range of aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems of Jervis Bay. In Huskisson, we stop for a coffee break before we continue our drive to the Coolangatta Estate Winery for lunch and a following tasting of local wines. Coolangatta was the Southern East Coasts first European settlement and its vineyard is located in a picturesque setting overlooking their rambling vines. After lunch we continue our tour to Kiama, meaning “where the sea makes a noise” in the local indigenous language. We visit the famous blowhole, visited by George Bass in 1797 – the blowholes’ spectacular plumes of water are on display when the seas are running from the south-east. We also visit Kiama’s local rock pool from where we may see dolphins or whales and have the opportunity to enjoy a coffee. We arrive in Sydney.

DAY 1: SYDNEY / KIAMA / JERVIS BAY / BATEMANS BAY

We visit the famous blowhole, visited by George Bass in 1797 – the blowholes’ spectacular plumes of water are on display when the seas are running from the south-east. We also visit Kiama’s local rock pool from where we may see dolphins or whales and have the opportunity to enjoy a coffee. We drive along the Grand Pacific Tourist Drive via Gerroa and have lunch at the Coolangatta Estate Winery followed by a tasting of local wines. Coolangatta was the Southern East Coasts first European settlement and its vineyard is located in a picturesque setting overlooking their rambling vines. We follow the scenic route via Huskisson to Jervis Bay Marine Park and enjoy a stroll along the beach, the world’s whitest sands and crystal clear waters provide a picturesque setting for the diverse range of aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems of Jervis Bay. We are passing through the district of Shoalhaven and spend the night in Batemans Bay, a picturesque coastal town on the east coast of New South Wales.

On our way to Melbourne we are travelling north west along the South Gippsland Freeway and have a coffee break in Koonwarra.
